How Much Is Lassen County Paying to Hide the Truth?
On July 17, 2025, a formal California Public Records Act (CPRA) request was submitted to Maurice Anderson, the Chief Administrative Officer of Lassen County, demanding full disclosure of taxpayer funds paid to attorney Michelle Nasise and the law firm Prentice|Long LLP.
Why? Because evidence shows these funds are being used to lie to the public, withhold public records, and block access to critical information about herbicide contamination, environmental impacts, and government accountability in Lassen County.
This request specifically asks for:
- All payments to Michelle Nasise and Prentice|Long LLP from March 1, 2025 through July 17, 2025
- A breakdown of billable hours spent obstructing CPRA requests
- Invoices, time logs, and contract terms covering this period
Who’s Responsible?
Lassen County taxpayers deserve to know how their money is being spent — and by whom. These decisions are being made under the leadership of:
- Maurice Anderson – Chief Administrative Officer
- District 1 – Mike Scanlan
- District 2 – Gary Bridges
- District 3 – Tom Neely
- District 4 – Aaron Albaugh
- District 5 – Jason Ingram
These officials are accountable for enabling secretive legal tactics to suppress environmental health information and deny public oversight.
This page will be updated with the County’s response—or refusal to respond—once the 10-day legal deadline expires.
If Lassen County has nothing to hide, then they should have no problem releasing the billing records. If they resist, it will only confirm what the people of Lassen already suspect.
