Support Protect Lassen

Why Your Support Matters

Protect Lassen runs on community support — not government grants, corporate sponsors, or backroom deals.

We’re a local effort focused on one thing: getting the truth about what’s being sprayed on our land and in our watersheds when the agencies responsible won’t.

How your donation is used today:

All funds currently go toward independent laboratory testing — water and soil samples from areas affected by aerial herbicide application, tested for compounds including glyphosate, triclopyr, hexazinone, indaziflam, oxyfluorfen, and penoxsulam. Every invoice and every lab result will be posted publicly on this site.

How donations will be used as the project grows:

As funding allows, donations will also support:

  • Retaining legal counsel to pursue California Public Records Act enforcement against agencies unlawfully withholding documents
  • Retaining legal counsel to pursue CEQA compliance actions where required environmental review has been skipped or improperly exempted
  • Expanded independent investigation and documentation of herbicide spraying, timber operations, and related public-funding questions in Lassen County

If a specific planned purpose can’t be pursued, funds will be redirected to additional testing. No donation is ever spent on anything other than the purposes described above.

Full transparency:

Protect Lassen is not currently a registered nonprofit and donations are not tax-deductible. Every expenditure will be documented and published on this site — lab invoices, legal retainers, and any other project costs. If that changes (for example, if we partner with a fiscal sponsor or form a registered entity), we’ll disclose it here before any change takes effect.
