Protect Lassen: Who We Are
A local effort for truth, accountability, and environmental protection in Lassen County.
Protect Lassen is a grassroots watchdog project focused on the water, wildlife, and people of Lassen County. While state and county agencies stay silent and officials look the other way, we document what’s happening on the ground and publish what we find.
We test local water sources for herbicide contamination because the government won’t. We investigate how public grants and tax dollars are used — and misused — in reckless, unaccountable projects. We document county-level fund misuse, missing public money, and government officials who don’t comply with transparency and environmental laws. We examine nonprofits operating in Lassen that mislead the public about who they are and what they do, claiming to represent the community while serving other interests. We push state and county agencies to release public records they are unlawfully withholding — records that directly affect our health, our property, and our environment. We hold agencies and officials accountable at both the county and state level. We demand transparency and give residents a voice when no one else will listen.
From the mountain creeks to the valley lakes, this land is worth protecting, and so are the people who live here.
